Roti & Kopi House, Damansara Uptown

Roti & Kopi House, Damansara Uptown 1

Early this year I read about Roti & Kopi House from Eat Drink KL. Eh, how come I did not notice this place?

Sometimes it takes people from outside Damansara Uptown to alert me about new eateries in this area hee..hee..

Roti & Kopi House is located at Tower C Uptown 5. That was where McDonald’s used to be many, many years ago. If I am not wrong, it was last occupied by Kory.

Feeling adventurous, I visited for lunch.

I love the colorful murals. The space downstairs is quite small with more sitting upstairs. Since I was alone, I sat downstairs.

Browsing through the menu, I settled for the nasi lemak set lunch. I was informed that the set comes with a drink and fruits.

I was pleased that coffee was among the selection of drinks.

The coffee was served in a plastic cup. I reckon this is designed for takeaway. Wah! I loved the coffee. It is local coffee, very fragrant and very potent. Thumbs up from me. This could be the best local coffee in the neighborhood.

The nasi lemak was a little too blue for me. I believe food coloring is used because natural color from bunga telang would not be so intense.

Shocking color aside, this was a good plate of nasi lemak because the rice was fragrant and yes, lemak. It was good eaten even on its own.

The drumstick was of good size and well marinated, though it could be more tender. The sambal was impressive and I was informed that I could request for more at no extra charge. So I did.

As for the acar, I loved it too because it tasted exactly like my mum’s acar

The coffee brought me back for a second visit (yes, the coffee).

This time, in addition to my main meal, I ordered the bingka ubi.

This is not your regular bingka ubi because it was topped with coconut and made purely with tapioca.

At first I thought the texture was rather strange (powdery) when I realized that I was actually eating tapioca and I liked it. When I was small, I used to eat steamed tapioca with sweet grated coconut.

My main meal was a chicken chop.

The rice tasted like chicken rice while the chicken chop, though not outstanding, was enjoyable.

Now where is the fruit? On both visits, I was not served the fruits that were supposed to be part of the set. But I did not make a fuss because I am not really into fruits and missing out on a few pieces of fruits is not that big of a deal for me (if it was ice cream/cake/kueh, it would have been a different story. Hah!).

Overall, a positive experience as the food is above average, the coffee outstanding and service friendly.
