Of all the restaurants I have visited at The Starling, my all time favorite is still Pho Vietz. There is something light and refreshing about Vietnamese fare and the food at Pho Vietz suites my taste.
Last year they introduced a meat free menu.
I tried the Stir Fried Basil with Soy Chicken Rice Set.
It was delicious.
I found the veggie spring roll very much to my liking.
Encouraged by this dish, I returned for the Stir Fried Lemongrass with Soy Chicken Rice Set.
I’m afraid this one was not as successful.
The lemongrass was overpowering and the dish had a grainy gritty feel. I did not enjoy it at all.
Fortunately, the veggie spring roll was still as good.
Another day I had a sudden craving for pork belly. Oops! Not so healthy.
So so good! Savory with a slightly sweetish taste. I was very satisfied. But felt a tad guilty hee..hee…
To atone for the fatty porkilicious indulgence, I returned for the vermicelli salad with lemongrass chicken. I added on a side of pork skewers. Yummeh!
I enjoyed the salad so much that I came back for the one with grilled pork belly. Oopss! (again) heh..heh…
This time with a side of vege spring roll. They were good except that they were not properly drained and hence very oily.
If there is any other complaint, it is that the dipping sauce is too sweet. I wish that they would dial down on the sugar.
I usually don’t order drinks because most drinks are too sweet for me (unless if they have black coffee, no sugar) but I was thirsty. Yes, this Lemongrass Ginger drink was a tad sweet but very refreshing.
On my most recent visit, I had the vermicelli salad with stir fried beef. Mmmphh!!!

So far, Pho Vietz has been consistently good, so I trust they will stay on and continue to do well.
