Well, well. It’s 2020! It doesn’t feel any different to me. I guess how good a year is, it’s up to us to make it so. Last year 2019 was all right for me, better than 2018.
Now about the holiday. No Japan. No Korea. No China. No Europe. No Australia.
I stayed HOME. My best holiday destination, I tell you. I know, I am very strange.
I took a few days off work (and blogging) and spent a wonderful time at home. I got to hangout with my cat.
And I assembled 8 bookshelves which I bought during the 12.12 sales.
I am not much of a handyman/woman but I managed. I ended up with a very sore arm and hand.
My cat hung out with me the whole time. She was so bored.
And she fell asleep hee..hee…
I also embarked on a major spring cleaning project and gosh! I couldn’t believe the amount of crap I accumulated over the years.
I threw out quite a bit of things which I don’t use anymore. I also tossed out 5 pairs of jeans which were sitting in my cupboard for the last 20 years and no longer fit me. Bah! How I managed to fit into those pants astounds me. Maybe I am more muscular now wahahaha!!!
With my time taken up by housekeeping, there was no time to cook. So. Grabfood!
I had Nando’s.
Salads from La Juiceria Goodness Greens Cafe.
Rojak!
Poke bowl from The Fishbowl.
Then I got tired of outside food and raided the freezer for leftover food prep.
hee..hee…my partner’s food stock. Eh, it tasted quite good. No wonder he never complains.
Besides cleaning and de-cluttering, I also did a new year food prep for my partner.
One dish meals are the easiest.
Pasta is also very practical.
I had a bit of disaster when I underestimated the amount of macaroni (it was all I had left). Three minutes before time, I quickly added angel hair pasta into the boiling macaroni.
That saved the day. Sort of.
For my new year day lunch today I had this.
Mutton Varuval Biryani.
Very aromatic with generous mutton chunks. But this biryani is unlike the taste of biryani that I am more accustomed to. Different style I suppose.
I ordered a portion of Aloo Gobi and was surprised when it came like this. I thought Aloo Gobi is supposed to be a dry dish.
That was a very heavy lunch and I don’t think I need dinner.
I am not in the habit of making new year resolutions but I intend to eat more wholesome/healthy home cooked food. I ate out too much in 2019.
So that wraps up my day one of 2020. I wish all of you a Happy, Healthy and Successful year ahead!
