Ada Roti Ada Telur…..

..ada macam-macam sayur..purchase at myAEON2go..deliver right to your door.. If you shop at Aeon or Daiso, chances are you might have heard this little ditty.

When I first heard this tune, I thought it was funny. Then one day, after a particularly stressful time at the office, I went to Daiso to chill out.

Out of the blue – ada roti ada telur.. ada macam-macam sayur… I was suddenly gripped by hysterics and I wanted to laugh out loud. It’s really terrible when you are alone at a public place and you want to go wahahahaha!!! I had to control myself and quickly rushed out of Daiso.

Darn! I think it was my body’s way of trying to relax me and to let out all the stress. But really. Haiz!

So last weekend I went for my grocery run with my lahling. And yes, they are still playing that song but I don’t react to it anymore. In fact I can sing along under my breath ada roti..ada telur..ada macam-macam sayur…..

Wah seh! Seriously lah! Mooncake festival will be upon us again. So fast, eh?

Subsi3

Half the year is already gone.

Subsi4

I think Oversea is my auntie’s favorite brand.

Subsi5

Some people might prefer Tai Thong. I am just ok with mooncake. Not really crazy about it.

Now this I like.

Subsi6

My favorite coffee, Moccona.

Subsi7

But I didn’t buy because I had recently purchased via Lazada.

Then I saw this.

Subsi8

The Art of Snacking? Many of us are masters at that, right?

Subsi9

I used to love Cottage Fries. I’m sure I still do.

Subsi10

I try to avoid these things.

Subsi12

Because moderation does not work for me when it comes to chips and such.

Subsi13

One packet of chips or one chocolate bar will lead to many many more. I just can’t stop.

Subsi14

I am better off eating telur (egg) or sayur (vegetable).

Subsi15

So I just walked around these things and basically because my ketua pengarah (director general) was with me, I didn’t pick up any hah..hah….

These things are no good for you, ok? They contain two main things – carbs and fats (plus flavorings etc). One day when I am in the mood, I will talk to you about a metabolic pathway – The Randle Cycle and you will understand why it is not a good idea to eat excessive carbs and fats together.

Subsi11

But in all seriousness, most foods that combine carbs and fats are so, so tasty and irresistible, right? They are everywhere all around us. Think char koay teow, curry mee, wanton mee, banana leaf rice, deep fried pastries, butter cake, ad infinitum. Thankfully, those I can do moderately.
