Good Pick Noodles@Damansara Uptown (CLOSED)

Subsi1

It looks like a new noodle shop has opened in Damansara Uptown. I had no idea until a restaurant staff greeted me outside the shop when I passed by. Since I had already had lunch, I told him I would come back another day.

Subsi3

Many days passed and I still did not have the opportunity to visit until recently.

Subsi2

I was there almost 3:00 pm for a late lunch. The young man who greeted me many days ago was there to assist me on the menu.

Subsi2

He was so enthusiastic that I can’t help wondering if he was the owner/joint owner or their star employee.

The order chit is laminated in plastic, so what you do is take a marker pen (it’s inside the container where they store cutleries) and tick what you want.

Subsi9

That way, the server can rub off the markings after the order is taken and the restaurant saves paper. Good, eh?

Since there were so many things on the menu, I decided to go for the Good Pick Set which comes with (1) Chinese lettuce (2) Beef Brisket (3) Pig Intestine (4) Pork Skin (5) Radish (6) Curry Fish Ball (7) Marinated Egg (8) Taiwan Meat Ball. You get to choose the type of noodle and soup base that you prefer.

I chose thin egg noodles and clear soup.

There you go, my super loaded bowl of noodles.

Subsi8

Aiyah… half an egg only. Bah! hee..hee…

Subsi9

I liked the thin egg noodles, something like wanton noodles.

Subsi10

There were two big chunks of beef brisket, they were almost tender, maybe needed a bit more braising.

Subsi11

There were also two big pieces of curry pig skin. I did not like the curry flavor. I thought it would be nicer if the pork skin was braised in soya sauce.
Inside the soup were two big pieces of radish which were nice and tender. The soup had a strong beefy aroma and I thought that it was a little overpowering even for a beef lover like me.

Subsi6

I loved their chili condiment. It was delicious.

Subsi7

I did not like the iced Chinese tea as it had strong earthy flavor, much like pu-er tea which is not my favorite.

I returned a week later and had the same thing. Somehow this time it tasted even better.

Subsi5

The beef brisket was very tender and the soup was beefy and yet pleasant.

Subsi6

For drinks I ordered the iced coffee. You can choose (i) less ice (ii) less sugar (iii) no sugar (iv) black (coffee).

Subsi4

Yikes! Forgot to tick “black” coffee but I found this coffee rather good. Next time remember to tick “less ice” and “black” hee…hee…

Subsi7

I was so carried away that I accidentally “kidnapped” the spoon from the condiment container. Major faux pas tsk! tsk!

When the server was clearing the table, I noticed her taking the spoon and attempting to wipe it with a tissue. Oh no! So I approached her (hoping to tell her, please don’t put the spoon back! Get a clean one) and apologized for taking the spoon out but she gave me a blank look and did not seem to understand me.

I hope she did not put the spoon back into the condiment container. Touch wood! But I can assure you that the spoon was only used to spoon the chili onto my food without any contact.

This Good Pick Set at RM21.90 saves you some money since the 5 extra ingredients would have cost RM28.90. It is very loaded and can be shared by two small eaters. In fact the cashier asked me if I finished my food since it might be “too big for a lady”. Well, well. This lady got big stomach lah.

Subsi3

I will come back for sure and next time, I will customize my noodles and try other soup flavors. Or even the Big Rice Bowl.
