Nasi Lemak Tanglin, Damansara Uptown

Subsi1
Finally, I walked into Nasi Lemak Tanglin today. It is situated at Menara TH, Uptown 3.

This spot used to be occupied by Rawsome, which did not last very long. In fact Lembaga Tabung Haji has vacated its office next to the restaurant.

I was not too keen to visit initially based on the low 3.6 score on Google reviews. But what the heck, I read a positive review by eatwhateatwhere, though hers was from the Jalan Tun Perak outlet.

Subsi3

As I approached the food counter, I noted the menu on the wall. There was quite a list of items, including dishes for nasi campur.

Subsi4

The print is quite small, this auntie had to squint her eyes to read the menu hah..hah…

Subsi6

Since I was there for the nasi lemak, I settled for the Nasi Lemak Daging and I tambah two items – paru (lungs) and limpa (spleen). I have a thing for organ meats.

Subsi5

The very polite young man filled my plate the total bill came to RM20.00.

Subsi8

There you have it, my plate of nasi lemak with ikan bilis & peanuts, paru, a nice chunk of beef rendang and limpa.

Subsi9

The beef was tender and I noted that the rendang gravy is the saucy type. I am more used to thicker gravy and I found the rendang flavor different than what I am familiar with. But having said that, I did not dislike it though I found the rendang gravy to be a bit too sweet and a bit too pedas. But still enjoyable.

This is the first time I am eating limpa (spleen). It is fried till crispy and the texture is meaty, perhaps like liver. I can’t really tell what it tastes like on its own since it was doused in rendang gravy.

Subsi11

In case you were wondering, yes, there was half a boiled egg buried under the limpa.

As for the rice, it was very fragrant and the grains of rice were well separated. Yes, I loved the rice and this nasi lemak can stand on its own. As for the sambal, I think it was quite diluted and not much was given, perhaps the adek felt that I did not need so much in view of the rendang gravy. Maybe next round I will get something with no gravy so that I can taste the sambal.

Subsi10

The paru (lungs) was a hit and miss because some pieces were fried until very dry while there were chunks and pieces that were moist and spongy. No complaints on the ikan bilis and peanuts as they were fresh and crispy.

Subsi15

Overall, I think this plate of nasi lemak was more than decent and Nasi Lemak Tanglin, Damansara Uptown deserves more than a 3.6 rating.

Subsi12

I think it is worth a revisit to check out their nasi lemak ayam goreng or even the nasi campur. But I must be honest about something – I was very thirsty after this lunch.
