30 Day carnivore Challenge : Day #13

30 Day carnivore Challenge : Day #13 1
It is day #13, almost 2 weeks that I have been eating mostly meat. Am I complaining? Nope!

I remember when I was a child, my mother mentioned feeling shocked that I did not help myself to any vegetables at the dining table.

You see, I grew up with my grandparents. My grandpa believed that protein is the most important macro nutrient. Come to think of it, his thinking was very progressive. So as a child, I did not ever remember being encouraged to eat vegetables. Hence, my lack of interest in plant foods (my mum changed all that of course).

The mistake that my grandpa made was that he did not restrict my intake of carbohydrates, namely things like snack, sweets, cakes, ice cream, soft drinks and obviously rice and noodles. Those were the foods that made me into a fat child who was pretty much ridiculed and made fun of, not only by my peers but also by (tactless) adults.

So here I am living my childhood dream of not having to eat vegetables. Just kidding. I actually grew fond of vegetables. Although you may find quite a number of carnivores that vilify vegetables (plants are trying to kill you!), I don’t share those sentiments. Sure, some vegetables are problematic to some people. But I have never had any issues with plant foods.

Today, I was at the office. Again no time to prepare food and I got hungry at around 11:00am. The only practical place to pick up my food was at the chap fan shop.

This is my (almost) carnivore friendly pick – marmite chicken (the marmite part is not carnivore compliant), fried fish and two fried eggs. Can lah. It is not possible to eat “clean” outside.

But it will do.

For dinner, I had pork chops which I marinated the day before.

Simply pan fried with butter and soy sauce added at the end. The combination of butter and soya sauce is truly delicious. After I removed the pork chops from the pan, I used the remaining oil/butter to saute some sliced onions. Those added even more flavor.

Eating the carnivore way is so convenient. It really is. You don’t have to cook rice. You don’t have to soak and wash and cut and cook your veggies. Or prepare whatever usual components that make up an omnivorous meal. Not to mention the number of pots and pans you need to wash.

With carnivore, it’s just meat and one pan. So simple and practical.

These pork chops were superb!
