Blahbatuh is a sub-district in Gianyar, Bali which is famous for its many springs with fresh fish. It is located about seven kilometers to the west of Gianyar and four kilometers from Sakah which turns towards Ubud along the main Denpasar-Gianyar road. Blahbatuh is also famous for being rich in ancient relics and historical objects.
One of them is located east of the Blahbatuh Village Market, there is a very magnificent and beautiful ancient temple called Pura Gaduh. This place holds historical objects that were erected to honor the services of Mahapatih Kebo Iwa, a hero of Raja Astasura Ratna Bumi Banten who died in the Majapahit Kingdom.
Not only that, north of the crossroads from Bedugul to Gianyar, there is a historic temple called Pura Kutri, where the top of this temple hill contains a 220 cm high statue of Dewi Durga made of solid stone. In fact, above the Petanu River there is a small temple called the Penataran Topeng Temple which stores a number of sacred masks called the Gajah Mada Mask. The masks were transferred to Puri Agung Jelantik Blahbatuh and are often performed as Pajegan Mask performances at major ceremonies.

History of Blahbatuh
In the early 17th century, the reign of Dalem Ketut was known by several patihs, where one of them is Ki Kebo Iwa who is based in Blahbatuh, Gianyar. Blahbatuh’s name was not well known at that time. It was during Ki Kebo’s time that the name Blahbatuh was famous because of the supernatural powers and immunity of Ki Kebo who was very tough and difficult to beat by his enemies.
Blahbatuh comes from two words, namely “Blah” means people and “batu” means rock or strong. So, from Blahbatuh it is defined as the people who are led by a very powerful and famous person, namely Ki Kebo Jiwa who is domiciled in Blahbatuh.
How to get to Blahbatuh
To reach Blahbatuh, you can use an official airport taxi, rent a car or motorbike, as well as hotel pick up services. However, you can also use the Trans Sarbagita Corridor I bus for Nusa Dua-Batubulan or the Perama Tour Shuttle Bus to the Gianyar area, then continue the journey back to Blahbatuh.
