History of Saba

There used to be a forest called I Rengked led by I Rengked and 18 people other. The forest is the territory of the Blahbatuh Kingdom but is controlled by the Sukawati led by Dewa Agung Anom Kalang.

King Blahbatuh at that time, I Gusti Ngurah Jelantik was disappointed and attacked the Sukawati Kingdom many times to regain power, but the result failed. Then, he ordered I Gusti Ngurah Padang from Bona and I Rengked to attack the Sukawati Kingdom, so that the Rengked forest became Blahbatuh’s territory again.

King Blahbatuh was happy with the victory, then changed the name of the Rengked forest to Toh Jiwa because the place was taken over at the stake of the soul. After the situation was quite safe, all the kings in Bali visited Toh Jiwa to witness the victory ceremony of King Blahbatuh against King Sukawati.

The number of inhabitants of the Rengked Forest, which was 18 people, was increased by I Gusti Gede Padang by contacting all the kings in Bali. Whoever at that time was considered guilty and sentenced to death, then that person was brought to Toh Jiwa to multiply the inhabitants. Therefore, the population of Toh Jiwa grew and finally the meeting place was named Pesaban, and now it has changed to Saba.
